Being raised on fantasy books and classic movies inspired Valerie to write and act in school plays but ultimately she went in a brainier career direction. After assisting in medical research and earning a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, she switched to computers wanting both left-brain analytical puzzles and creative right-brain fun. Still feeling restless from the lack of human interaction, she teamed up with folks in many artistic communities and began to produce her own projects.
In 2005 Valerie started cosplaying Lara Croft that soon led to producing and starring in her first film “Tears of the Dragon”, which has been featured in magazines and news sites in over seven different countries. For this and many projects since she has appeared on NBC, CBS, DC Nation, Fuel TV, G4TV and GamerTV.

Their most acclaimed installment, ‘Paula Peril: Midnight Whistle’, received distribution and was developed into a feature ‘Adventures of Paula Peril’ which is coming to DVD and video on demand in the US and Canada. For 2017 an all-new tale ‘Paula Peril and the Hidden City’ is now available online: PaulaPerilAdventures.com
In 2009 Valerie became the Annual Saturn Awards stage hostess and associate producer for the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror, honoring the best of genre storytelling in Television and Film. In 2016 she has been named their Official Ambassador, an honor only previously held by legendary genre expert Forest J. Ackerman (watch Valerie’s introduction to 42nd Annual Saturn Awards Nomination Show).
For up and coming storytellers, she co-presents the annual San Diego Comic-Con International Film School and helps host the Burbank International Film Festival.
Valerie’s likeness can be seen on comic book covers and in video games from Marvel, DC, Dynamite Entertainment and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
